Will I get a 1099-K, and what do I do with it?
You may receive Form 1099-K if you were paid through payment apps or online marketplaces above the reporting threshold, which has been changing under recent rules. The form reports gross payments, not your profit. Getting one does not automatically mean you owe tax, but you must account for it: report business or side-hustle income and deduct related expenses, and be ready to show that personal transfers or the sale of personal items at a loss are not taxable income. Keep records, and ask a professional if the amount looks wrong.
